Computer Cases With Power Supply
|
When building a new personal computer from the ground up, everyone knows it is important to choose the right graphics card, hard drive, processor, and motherboard to meet the demands of the applications the computer will be running. One thing many novice computer builders forget, however, is that the power supply is equally important. Power supplies can be found with different power capabilities. It is important to ensure that your chosen power supply is powerful enough to run all the hardware components in your computer. This is especially true in gaming PCs that require much more power than the average desktop computer. All in all, the job of the power supply unit is simple. It is designed to convert incoming alternating current (AC) into the direct current (DC) that the computer needs to run. Many people only see the outside part of the power supply unit - the cord that connects the computer to the outlet. Inside, the unit is more advanced. It has numerous wires that attach to each of the individual components inside the case, providing them with the electricity they need to run. Many computer cases with power supply units already installed do not provide enough power. In fact, some are still being made with 150 watt power supplies that are much too small to efficiently run most of today's computers. The typical computer should have a power supply of at least 350 watts while a gaming PC may be require 1000 watts. When looking to replace a power supply unit or install one in a new computer for the first time, it is a good idea to look ahead at your long term needs. It usually is not a good idea to buy a power supply that will just fit you needs right now. It is more beneficial and cost effective to purchase one that will last through several upgrades and a number of years before needing to be replaced. At computers become more and more advanced, their need for power grows as well. In order to ensure the best possible performance from all the components in your computer, it is essential to install a power supply unit that provides a sufficient amount of electricity. |
